I've just finished reading The thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield which I enjoyed very much. It's a complex mystery about twins, ghosts and families. I borrowed it from the Wagga Library.

I run a library reading group in the UK, and we can heartily recommend 'The Kite runner' by Khaled Hosseini, in fact we voted it the best book of 2006

please change the title of the "citation linker" on the library website to something more obvious and practical for university students who have spent hours staring at computer screens.. suggestiong: "journal search" or "the easy way to find journals!"

RE: Citation Linker
By: Anonymous,

"Yes, Citation Linker is a little cryptic for the unitiated, I agree. We did think about renaming it but "journal search" or "article finder" etc. aren't really an accurate description of what Citation Linker does, so we hesitated to change it. It doesn't actually search for journals or articles in the sense that SmartSearch does, what it does is tell you if CSU has access to a particularjournal title or journal article that you already know about. Say an article is suggested by your lecturer or is listed in your reading list, Citation Linker is a quick way for you to check if it's available at CSU, it's not a resource for searching for articles about a given subject. I don't think we've given up on renaming it, we just don't want to call it something that raises expectations it can't meet." How about "Search for FullText."

Why wasn't the library open on Saturday? I came in to work on my last essay and found the library in darkness. Not happy.

All the CSU Libraries revert to Vacation Hours (M-F 9am - 5pm) once the Semester finishes. These hours are advertised on the Library doors a few weeks in advance, on the website and BLOG.
Things will change in the New Year for Bathurst students. The Library is about to open the Learning Commons - this will provide a range of facilities like computers, printer, vending machines etc 24hrs a day to assist students who are still studying outside the semester periods

Hi Steven
The library does have quite a bit of fiction - overall, the library is not organised into fiction and non-fiction like public libraries so the stories are in the collection in Dewey order like all the other books. There are a couple of ways you can find them - type in the name of an author or book that you are after in the catalogue - if the book is held at another campus you can request it. If you do a Subject search on the catalogue for Science fiction you will find quite a lot of books listed, some at Bathurst and some at other campuses. There are also DVDs.
We have actually put a budget submission for next year to buy some stands to put books like that in a more public area - hopefully it will be accepted.
Thanks
Karin

Thanks Karin. I enjoy gothic horror (vampires etc) and fantasy. how do I find these? The stands are a good idea.
Steven.
