In January 2007 the loan period for undergraduate DE students was increased to four weeks with the option of two x four week renewals (unless there are holds on the item). However there is an important change. The Library team will now insist that items borrowed by DE students are returned to the Library before or on the due date. Students in very remote locations with unreliable or infrequent mail services should contact the Library team.

Email courtesy notices are now sent to DE students five days before the due date.

A reminder 3-5 days in advance would suit me better than the current 1 day notice.

What will it take to have the library adjust their system so that these automated emails are sent to DE students in time for them to be of any use at all? There is NO point in alerting DE students on the day items are due. I certainly hope that the "very important change" whereby DE loans must be returned on or before the due date can be accompanied by another very important (and easily arranged) change - resetting the time that the reminders are sent out to 5 days *before* the due date.

Will they be increased? 2 weeks is not enough.
