You may find Grove Art a useful place to start your research, as it can help you to define concepts as well as provide an overview of your topic. Grove Art also contains over 3, 000 art images.

Search Tips

Use either the quick search or advanced search options to perform a keyword search, to find keywords located in article headings and article fulltext.

When searching use Boolean search operators such as AND, OR and NOT to either broaden or narrow your search. If searching in the Advanced search mode remember to select the "boolean search mode" before conducting your search.

If you want to search for a phrase remember to enclose the phrase in double quotation marks. For example “abstract expressionism.”

If searching for the name of an artist type in the name surname first eg. Newman, Barnett.
